- $85.00 Edison with the Arduino breakout, the most popular version
- $50.00 Edison only, you will need a breakout board to even power up the Edison board.
- Sparkfun has a large variety of breakout boards for the Edison, ideal for compact projects.

- A serial cable, they are cheap and come in handy:

- A USB to serial adapter (if your computer does not have a serial port)
- TRENDnet - $10.90
